THE Royal Air Force’s centenary celebrations continued at RAF Brize Norton yesterday.

The RAF100 baton had already made stops at RAF Benson and at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford earlier this week.

The baton is being taken on 100 stops over 100 days to celebrate the RAF’s foundation in April 1918.

And the latest stage of the relay at RAF Brize Norton was attended by its commander, Timothy Jones, Horus 7’s Rugby Team, the station’s Go Karting club, the Triathlon Club, the Saddle Club, station personnel and their families.

RAF Brize Norton is the RAF's largest base, with about 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and about 300 civilian staff.

It is also home to the RAF’s Strategic and Tactical Air Transport and Air-to-Air Refuelling forces, along with other lodger and reserve units.

The relay begun on Sunday at the Royal Courts of Justice and will finish on July 10 on Horse Guards Parade.
