TOURISM firm City Sightseeing has launched an ‘Oxperience’ ticket linking bus journeys, entry to top visitor attractions and discounts at Westgate Centre restaurants.

Owned by Oxford Bus Company, City Sightseeing started the new ticket deal on Good Friday, providing a value-for-money package for visitors to the city.

The ticket is available Monday to Friday and costs £33 for an adult, which includes the 24-hour ‘Hop On, Hop Off’ bus tour, incorporating a tour of Oxford Castle and former prison, entry to the Sheldonian Theatre and a tour of the Bodleian Library.

The ticket also offers discounts at a number of restaurants in the Westgate shopping centre.

Jane Marshall, general manager of City Sightseeing Oxford, said: “Oxford is a beautiful city and has some fantastic attractions.

“However, ticketing for visitors has been a little confusing to date, so we have created a package that is simple to access and provides a one-ticket solution benefitting customers and the attractions.”

It is the first time these attractions have linked up to provide visitors with the opportunity to buy a joint ticket at a discounted rate.

The ticket will be available from City Sightseeing’s shop in Oxford railway station via new and improved ticketing machines. The Oxperience tickets will be offered on a first come first served basis.

A ’ComboSaver Ticket’ has also been provided, enabling passengers on park-and-ride, X90 or Airline services to add a City Sightseeing bus tour to their day out. These offers will be available later this month.

Contactless payment technology has been fitted on the sightseeing fleet.

Oxford Bus Company managing director Phil Southall said: “A key component of our strategy is joining up services and attractions to ensure we provide a world-class welcome to the city.”
