SPACE age helmets, healthy frosting and a ticket machine that accepts chocolate coins were some of the best April Fool’s stories being shared in Oxfordshire.
Banbury-based bakers Cake Angels revealed it had developed three new ‘superfood’ frosting flavours to appeal to ‘health-focused Instagrammers’.
The unappetising trio included Brilliant Broccoli, Beauty-Boosting Beetroot and Sumptuous Salmon.
Cake lovers were offered code ‘foolproof’ to receive a discount.
Oxfordshire County Council, meanwhile, announced Eynsham firefighters were ‘extremely excited’ to be the first in the country to wear new Flair Loop fire helmets.
The bright red teardrop-shaped design, pictured, bore a striking resemblance to those worn by cyclists seeking to increase their speed.
Bonus points for featuring Professor Jake Otis, an anagram of ‘it’s a joke’.
Finally, Chiltern Railways took advantage of the popular pranking date coinciding with Easter Sunday to announce its new range of ticket machines would accept chocolate coins in exchange for tickets.
