A PUB has exciting plans for more beer and food matching as it appoints a new award-winning head chef.

The Fox Inn, in the centre of Chipping Norton’s historic market place, serves ‘the best in British food.’

Now Matt Weedon, who has earned multiple accolades, including Michelin stars for two restaurants he was previously head chef at, has taken the helm.

His work so far has gained him recognition in listings of the brigade of Great British Chefs.

The 43 year-old, who celebrated his birthday last weekend, joined the restaurant six weeks ago.

He previously worked at Lords of the Manor in Cheltenham, which gained its first Michelin star in 2009, only one year after Mr Weedon took over as head chef.

Bringing a passion for food and strong emphasis on quality local ingredients, he said: “I’m excited to be joining the team at The Fox and looking forward to driving the food and service forward using the very best of local, quality suppliers to produce a menu fitting for our location here in the Cotswolds.”

The Fox boasts a range of awarding winning cask ales, which are brewed in Hook Norton.

The company's award winning ales include Red Rye, Hooky, Old Hooky, Twelve Days and Double Stout.

Racking up great reviews on the dishes he has already introduced to the restaurant, steak & Hooky Ale shortcrust pastry pie, aranchini risotto balls and Old Hooky beer bread with Marmite butter, his new menus and dishes are highly anticipated.

Hook Norton Brewery operations manager, Gerard Winder, added: “We have always strived to offer high quality, honest, locally sourced food and with Matt now on board we can really drive this forward and up a level.

“We have exciting plans with new menus and more beer and food matching.” The team will be running breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
