WELL-behaved children are enjoying a wide range of activities at an Oxford school, Ofsted has said.

The education watchdog visited West Oxford Community Primary School this month, and published its report on Wednesday.

An inspector rated the school 'good', in continuation of its previous rating awarded in 2013.

Her report stated: "Pupils enjoy coming to school and particularly appreciate the wide range of extra activities the school has to offer including sports and music clubs.

"Pupils behave well and are courteous and respectful of each other and their teachers.

"Pupils say that their teachers are kind and help to resolve any worries or difficulties."

The school in Ferry Hinksey Road, led by headteacher Clare Bladen, teaches 228 pupils.

Its curriculum was described by the inspector as 'broad and interesting', though she advised leaders to improve progress in some areas and improve communication with parents.

The report said: " In Key Stage 2, there has been more variability in pupils' attainment and progress.

"Although they are now taking appropriate action and there is an improving picture, standards of writing in some classes are not yet high enough."

It praised opportunities for school trips, adding: "The school's many visits to museums and places of interest strengthen pupils’ learning in subjects such as history.

"Visits also provide inspiration for pupils' writing."
