TRAVELLERS who were evicted from a park and ride after two weeks have reportedly now moved into Cowley Tesco.

A shopper at the superstore just off the Eastern Bypass called the Oxford Mail to say he watched 15 or 16 caravans driving into the car park just before 1pm this afternoon.

He added: "They were all parking up... looks like it's going to be where they set up for a little bit.

"You don't take 15 caravans just to do a weekly shop, do you?"

It comes after Oxford City Council was granted a court order on Monday to 'take possession' of Redbridge Park and Ride on Abingdon Road where a group of 36 caravans which moved in there on March 10.

The council confirmed at 11am today that those travellers had left Redbridge Park and Ride and said it was in the process of clearing up the rubbish they had left behind.

Travellers have been invading council-run car parks around the county for months now, including Redbridge, Pear Tree Park and Ride and a district council car park in Abingdon.
