QUEUES of fans lined up for hours to get a chance to meet Radio 1 duo turned children authors Greg James and Chris Smith.

The pair were in Oxford for the latest book signing of Kid Normal and the Rogue Heroes, and said they were greeted by young fans who had lined up since 9am for the meeting - two hours prior to their arrival.

Radio 1 newsreader Mr Smith said the popularity of the book has given the pair a 'warm glow' as youngsters flooded into Waterstones in Broad Street for the signing.

The pair signed countless books and posed with several young fans, Radio 1 DJ Mr James particular impressed with the youngster who had come dressed up as the book's main character Murph Cooper.

Mr James said: "It has been nice meeting a real mix of people.

"It is particularly great when you see the kids coming back with the first book as well, desperate to get their hands on the next."

He added: "One little boy even dressed as Murph which was lovely."

The pair both admitted they were a fans of the city, regularly visiting popular beauty spots such as the Botanic Gardens and Mr James revealed his favourite Oxford pub to be The Rose and Crown in Parktown.

Mr James also added that he is a regular visitor to Witney where his family were originally from and where his parents first met.

But unfortunately, they were unable to hang around and enjoy the city too much as it was off to Piccadilly Circus for the next signing.
