AFTER the recent snowfall the almond blossom outside the University Church of St Mary the Virgin in Oxford’s High Street suggests warmer weather could be on the way and here to stay.

The pink blossom on the tree is always much admired by tourists and other passers-by and seen as a sign that winter is well and truly over.

But the flowering blossom is in danger of being nipped in the bud by yet another cold spell, according to weather forecasters.

They say snow could hit the Easter weekend in the north of England and it is likely to be colder than usual for the time of year in other parts of the UK.

The Met Office said there was still ‘uncertainty’ in the forecast for the Easter weekend, starting Friday, March 30 but they were expecting temperatures about four degrees below average.
