JUST call it Wallywood!

Wallingford was sprinkled with star dust this week as stage and screen legend Jeremy Irons popped by.

The Brideshead Revisited star appeared at the Corn Exchange as part of a fundraising campaign.

In a conversation with Gloria Wright of the Sinodun Players he said: “I am happy to help ensure that the Corn Exchange keeps going because it makes Wallingford and our surrounding villages a much richer place to live. It’s important.”

The event on Monday night also saw Mr Irons tell a few stories of famous people he had worked with, share his insights into how he approaches his work in film, television and theatre, and even offer some more general views on life.

For the second half of the night he answered audience questions.

Corn Exchange trustee Debi Lisburne Diacon said: “It was a marvellous evening and Jeremy held everyone in the palm of his hand. We are so grateful for his support.”
