'A LOAD of old rubbish' is a phrase frequently applied to modern art, but it has rarely been so true.
In her first major solo UK exhibition, Brazilian artist Cinthia Marcelle has created this site-specific installation at Modern Art Oxford.
For the piece, entitled Family in Disorder, Ms Marcelle aimed to 'draw out relationships between the education culture of Oxford and the activism of secondary school students in Brazil'.
Working with local artists, she 'created a space of instigation, occupation, and resistance' using natural and industrial materials common to the artist’s practice. The product of their efforts was then 'subjected to the forces of chaos'.
