BUS drivers have handed over £750 to Helen and Douglas House after an array of festive fundraisers.

The Stagecoach drivers and staff organised a Christmas jumper day, driver dress up day and a raffle to support the hospice.

They gave the cheque in a presentation involving Lynn and David Lewis, whose son James died as the hospice in 2014, aged 27, after regular visits for 15 years.

Mrs Lewis, from Farmoor, said: "It’s great to see a local business fundraising to secure the future of this well needed hospice; especially when it’s so reliant on donations."

Last month Helen and Douglas House revealed it would close its adult services at Douglas House in a bid to keep the charity afloat amid a desperate financial situation.

Business development manager at Stagecoach, Karen Coventry, said: "We know that, now more than ever, the hospice needs support and we hope our donation helps secure the future of this much-needed service."
