WALKING football teams from across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire came together in Abingdon this week to celebrate the growing popularity of the sport.

Nearly 65 players took part in the friendly competition at The White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre in Abingdon on Monday.

The event included teams from Abingdon, Witney, Reading, Chiltern & South Bucks and Cherwell, as well as rural teams from across south Oxfordshire.

Kevin Williams, General Manager at White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre, said: "We’ve seen a surge in interest in walking football over the past 12 months. It’s a great way to stay actively involved in the game, without having to be particularly fit or risk injury."
