A MOTHER was left shrieking in horror after discovering a worm-like creature in a tin of sweetcorn.

Lauren Green, who lives in Barton with her partner Jason Conrey and their three children, has now sworn off Aldi as a result of her experience.

The supermarket has apologised and offered a full refund after learning the tin was Aldi’s own Sweet Harvest brand.

Miss Green had been out to Aldi in Horspath Driftway a couple of weeks ago and stocked up on sweetcorn.

Then, last Wednesday she went to prepare some lunch before heading off to work.

Mr Conrey, who was in the house at the time of the discovery, said: “She opened up the sweetcorn and right away started screaming her head off and shouting ‘oh my God’.

“It’s put her off sweetcorn and put her off shopping at Aldi again.”

Despite the shock, Mr Conrey said the situation could have been a lot worse.

He continued: “If she didn’t see it and put it into something and started cooking, she wouldn’t have noticed it.

“She was making pasta for her lunch so it’s good she didn’t drop it into sauce or anything.”

An Aldi spokesman said: “While incidents like this are rare, they can occur naturally in products of this type.

“We are sorry to hear about Ms Green’s experience and would encourage her to contact us directly so that we can provide her with a full refund.”
