A MUM says she ‘felt sick’ after her children spotted someone trying to film them while showering in a leisure centre changing rooms.

Rayner Ye and her children, aged two and five, were in a private cubicle at Leys Pools and Leisure Centre in Blackbird Leys when a phone was spotted poking out from under a bench.

Mrs Ye said the person, thought to be a man, had been waiting until she was out of sight, before her daughter asked: ‘Mummy, why is someone recording us on their phone?’ She said: “We were showering together for a long time.

“I went to the corner to dry and get ready. He must have heard me telling them ‘I am going over there’.

“When I looked down the phone flashed away but I saw someone pick up a pair of trainers and immediately leave.

“If I had been more confident I would have gone out and shouted ‘what are you doing?’ but I was in shock.”

Mrs Ye said she has a ‘terrible feeling’ the culprit must have done it before because of the ‘calculated’ way in which he carried out the incident without an adult being able to see.

Her daughter reported seeing herself and her brother on the phone screen, which was in selfie mode.

The 38-year-old mum, who lives in Surrey but is originally from Oxford, was visiting her parents in Headington for half term.

Her sister Nancy Bell lives in Sandhills and her two boys attend weekly swimming lessons at the leisure centre in Pegasus Road.

Mrs Ye said she had been left shocked and ‘with a sick feeling’ since the incident, which took place between 11.30am and noon on Monday, February 12.

Laura Nowosad, a spokeswoman for Fusion which runs the leisure centre, said: “Fusion Lifestyle can confirm that an incident was reported to staff.

“We are working closely with the police to investigate what happened and want to assure all our customers that we take this matter extremely seriously and every measure will be taken to ensure continued public safety.”

Councillor Linda Smith, the deputy leader of Oxford City Council and board member for leisure, sport and parks, said: "This is a shocking incident. We will work with Fusion Leisure to support the police in their investigation."

The incident has been reported to Thames Valley Police, who have been approached for comment.
