FIREFIGHTERS helped ensure rabbits and chickens were safe after responding to a blaze near Wallingford.
Crews were called reports of outbuildings on fire at a farm in Preston Crowmarsh at 7.30pm yesterday.
When the crews arrived they were faced with a number of storage sheds, poultry runs and stables engulfed in flames.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fires using high pressure hose jets
Most of the structures were empty and used for storage, but crews did need to ensure the safety of a number of animals that were housed in some of the units.
The cause is still being investiated by the fire service and police.
Station Manager Gary D’anger from Kidlington said “Our crews worked really hard to make sure that the animals weren’t affected by the fire and to try and save as much of the property as possible."
