THE icy chill that has gripped Oxford all week is set to remain into the weekend.

Temperatures as low as -5 degrees Celsius were recorded at the Benson weather station at 10.50pm last night.

It was the fourth consecutive night the dial had dipped below zero in Oxfordshire.

Forecasters are predicting a relatively warmer day today with top temperatures of 6 degrees Celsius.

But tomorrow night will see a return to the freezing temperatures with -1 degrees Celsius predicted.

Temperatures will again rise on Saturday before falling back to zero on Sunday night.
