A GROUP of boys from an Oxford school have handed over a cheque for more than £100 to support the work of charities.

The students from Year 8 and 9 at Oxford Academy met with representatives from the Mabel Prichard School for children with learning difficulties and Cancer Research last week after organising a special charity football match.

The match, which took place in the school's dome on December 14, raised £121 from students who came along to watch.

Pupils organised players, the location, date and provided snacks during half time.

The charities told the boys about what they will be doing with the money, with Mabel Prichard building a sensory garden and Cancer Research putting it towards their work.

Plans are already afoot to organise another football match in summer 2018.
