A COMMUNITY could soon be able to snack on home-grown produce planted in a city park.

Incredible Edible continued work yesterday on its 'forest garden' in Oxford's Florence Park, planting trees and harvesting herbs.

The group creates edible beds in parks across Oxford, working alongside Oxford City Council, Good Food Oxford, charities and communities.

Among those who helped to shovel soil and plant seeds yesterday were students from St Clare's boarding college in North Oxford.

Incredible Edible has set up several edible beds at the East Oxford park, and began work on the new 'forest garden' in November, with help from scores of supporters.

The project's website states: "Growing food is a great way to bring people together.

"We hope to inspire others to share the produce, knowledge and experience they grow over the years and start a buzzing conversation about local food."

The garden is located at the Campbell Road entrance to the park, and tree-planting sessions are scheduled monthly to ensure it flourishes.
