ONE of Oxfordshire's biggest-ever housing developments has finally been given an official name.
The 2,500-home estate on Grove Airfield next to Wantage will now be called Wellington Gate.
Persimmon Homes Wessex said it came up with the name working with Grove Parish Council, and explained it was inspired by aircraft used at the field during the Second World War.
Persimmon, which originally drew up the plans and won planning permission in conjunction with fellow housebuilder Taylor Wimpey, has now taken over sole control of the development.
The company is now providing updates on progress online at groveairfield.co.uk
