A NEW air conditioning unit to support pregnant women at Rose Hill Community Centre is set to be approved by Oxford City Council.

The condenser unit will be fitted into a medical room within the centre, which will be used as an early pregnancy assessment unit.

It will be part of a health hub at the centre to be occupied by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The £4.76m community centre, including gym, meeting and conference facilities, social club, community library, advice centre, youth suite, changing rooms, health facility and ballroom, opened in 2016.

Council planners resolved it would not result in unacceptable levels of noise nor be a nuisance to residents in the area.

City councillors are expected to officially approve the plan at 6pm on Wednesday at Town Hall so that work can begin.
