A TRADE union will protest in Oxford against United States President Donald Trump ahead of his anticipated visit to the UK next month.

Unite has said it will hold the rally outside the city's train station on February 24, ahead of a visit it said it expects President Trump to make to London on February 26 to open the new US embassy.

The £750m building will open to the public on January 16 in Nine Elms.

Theresa May confirmed President Trump would be making a trip to the UK on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show yesterday, but it is unlikely to be a full state visit.

It is thought the plan is for President Trump to undertake a downgraded ‘working trip’, during which he will not meet the Queen.

On the South East Unite Community’s Facebook page, the union stated: “Donald Trump has proven to be a truly divisive President. He promotes policies that are racist, Islamophobic and sexist.

“South East Unite promotes fairness, dignity and respect. We proudly work to build stronger communities and help empower people to organise and improve our lives collectively.

“We actively encourage inclusion, diversity, and equality. Together we are the polar opposite to Trumpism!”

The union said it hopes hundreds of people will join in at 13 protests around the South East.

Some of those include protests in Hastings, Milton Keynes, Slough, Portsmouth, Southampton and Gillingham.

President Trump claimed he was a ‘very stable genius’ on Saturday after a critical biography was released, in which it was claimed even his closest advisers have questioned his fitness for office.

Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House by American journalist Michael Wolff was published on Friday.

Confirming the visit will take place at some point, Mrs May said she believes President Trump is ‘committed to...taking decisions in the best interests of the United States.’
