RESULTS from a wide-ranging survey asking residents and visitors to Thame what they think of the town have been published.

Thame Town Council conducted the Customer Survey in November to learn more about what brings people to the town and how they experience it while there.

The data from the survey will be used to influence future action being taken by the council's Town Centre Working Group.

In total 304 people took part in the anonymous poll with the majority - 42.9 per cent, residents of Thame and predominantly women and aged between 40 and 64.

Asked what is their biggest reason for visiting Thame town centre most respondents, 79.7 per cent, said that they used services such as banks and post offices.

The second most popular answer was using the shops to 'top-up on food' with 70.76 per cent of people, followed by visiting independent retailers which was chosen by 69.4 per cent of people.

Asked about attending the regular Thame Market most of the replies indicated that visitors only 'sporadically' turn up to enjoy the market stalls.

Quizzed on what people want to see from the town a large number - 110, said they wanted town wi-fi and 100 people said they wanted to have a Town App providing information on local services, events and activities.

In terms of 'what change is needed' participants rated the general ambiance as good as well as the town information centre, pubs and coffee shops.
