A mum who tried Internet dating, but prefers to meet people in a 'natural party environment', decided to do something about it, and is organising a summer singles party.
Kally Peigne, 39, from Blewbury, has been separated for 18 months and feels there is a gap in the market for single professionals wanting to meet like-minded men and women, particularly if they are a single parent or have come out of a long-term relationship.
Ms Peigne, who has two small children, has turned her energies to organising a black tie Summer Singles Party, aimed at 30-45 age-range professionals, at Mansfield College, Oxford, on Saturday, August 11.
Ten per cent of profits from the event, plus from a raffle, will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
She said: "Many separated people, or single parents, find that all their friends are married and that it is difficult to get into a social circle of like-minded singles.
"There really is nowhere for people past the age of early to mid-20s to meet. Clubs and bars are not appropriate, and the dating websites, although fun, are not the optimum sources of eligible people. The old-fashioned way of meeting someone in person has to be the best way."
Tickets cost £45 each.
