YOUTUBE stars and Oxford University’s very own all-male a cappella group Out of the Blue has given the city an early present with its charity Christmas single.

The popular a cappella group have recorded their very own version of Slade’s classic Merry Christmas Everybody in aid of Helen and Douglas House Hospice.

It comes after the group posted covers on YouTube of Shakira’s ͚Hips Don’t Lie and Mariah Careys All I Want For Christmas Is You and totted up more than 15 million views in total.

Musical Director Sam Lupton said: “This was always my favourite Christmas song.

“It’͛s been a pleasure covering it.”

Out of the Blue have recorded a 70s throwback video as a salute to its original artist Slade.

But they have put their own spin on it by featuring a number of Oxford sites, most notably the Bodleian Library.

Out of the Blue member Rory Naylor said: “The two-day filming were the highlight of my term.

“It was hard to learn the choreography but the late-night rehearsals paid off.”

the group’s president Sean Bracebridge added: “Filming this video was such an amazing experience and we’re really proud to be supporting Helen & Douglas House.”
