Disc will keep aid in the air

A musician's CD was launched on a wing and a prayer - and is helping keep the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance flying.

John Hobbs, 64, from North Moreton, near Didcot, made the CD titled A Wing and a Prayer and has handed over £708 to the air ambulance charity, based at RAF Benson, near Wallingford.

Mr Hobbs has been entertaining at residential homes across the county, mixing 50s and 60s rock with wartime standards.

His band, The Gang Busters, recorded songs from the gigs.

He said he decided on the air ambulance after a friend's father had to be airlifted to hospital. The group was formed in the 1960s by Mike Coxe from Wallingford and consists of Mr Hobbs on rhythm guitar and vocals John Jeskins on bass and John Evans on lead guitar.
