START-UP companies will show off their latest projects tonight an event at the Bodleian’s Weston Library.

The #StartedinOxford Demo Night will take place at the Broad Street venue from 6pm to 8.30pm.

On the night about 30 of the best early-stage start-ups in and around Oxford will be featured, including those from the university and beyond.

Last year Fungry, a food delivery start-up, won last year’s version of the event.

Leah Thompson, who runs Enterprising Oxford, an Oxford University initiative, said: “I am really excited about the #StartedinOxford Demo Night, as it’s an amazing opportunity to celebrate and support the start-up community here in Oxford. This event is about showcasing the great ideas from Oxford University, Oxford Brookes University and the local area, and promoting Oxford as an exciting entrepreneurial hub.

“Although Enterprising Oxford has been the main organiser for the Demo Night, the Oxford start-up and entrepreneurship community has really come together to make this happen.”

Attendees can choose their favourite start-up by ‘investing’ in it, with each person attending given 1,000 #StartedinOxford ‘pounds’ to invest with.

Last month Apple CEO Tim Cook helped to launch the opening of The Oxford Foundry in Hythe Bridge Street, a new Oxford University hub and a place for students to generate ideas and create new businesses.

The hub is situated on the site of the former Wahoo nightclub.
