OXFORD calls itself the city of dreaming spires.
To judge by the pictures of the new Westgate shopping centre, that may have to change to ‘city of faceless oblong blocks’.
You say that the centre used an Alice in Wonderland-inspired advertisement to draw the crowds for its opening. This merely adds insult to injury: Lewis Carroll must be spinning in his grave.
