A NURSERY in the grounds of Oxford Airport is successfully supporting youngsters’ development.

Ofsted has rated The Early Years Nursery in Kidlington ‘good’, following an inspection earlier this month.

It is the first time the nursery has been inspected since opening in 2015.

The inspector’s report said: “Children settle very quickly and become confident explorers with high levels of self-esteem.

“Staff work effectively with parents to manage a joint approach to behaviour management, that fosters children’s emotional security well.”

The nursery looks after about 30 children at its base in the Old Farmhouse, within the grounds of the airport.

It was given Ofsted’s second-highest rating across all categories.

The report praised quality of teaching, adding: “Staff provide exciting and stimulating play spaces and very effectively support children to lead their own learning.

“They know when to let children do things for themselves and when to step in and offer help. Toddlers explore water play, dig in the sand and delight in splashing in muddy puddles.”
