SCORES of people came together for a community fun day in Witney held to raise funds for a new play area in the town.

Madley Park Residents Association turned its annual AGM into a fun day to appeal to residents of all ages - offering free pizza, temporary tattoos, a raffle and other attractions.

A range of local dignitaries, including Witney MP Robert Courts and leader of West Oxfordshire District Council James Mills, attended the event, which raised £150 for new play equipment on Madley Park Playing Field.

The project raising the funds for the new play area is called Activate: Madley Park.

Children from Madley Brook School ran stalls throughout the course of Saturday, October 14, to help boost the plot.

Emily Clanfield and Ruby Hobbs, both aged nine, raised more than £15 applying temporary tattoos.

PCSOs based in the area spent two hours security marking bikes and scooters for many residents to protect them from theft.

Anybody who wants to donate to the fund can do so online at justgiving.com/crowdfunding/activatemadleypark.

Details on future fundraisers will be released soon.
