FUNDRAISERS paraded through the city in support of a sanctuary for cancer patients.

More than 150 people ventured out for the annual Culture Crawl, organised by Maggie’s Centre at the Churchill Hospital.

The eight-mile evening walk took place the Friday before last, and included entertainment from Morris Men and a special insight into some of Oxford’s treasured landmarks.

Claire Marriott, centre head of Maggie’s Oxford, thanked participants and noted it was a ‘great atmosphere’.

She added: “We rely on donations to continue to develop our unique, high quality programme of support for people with cancer and their families and friends.

Walkers strode around the city from Saïd Business School, with stops at venues including Oxford Castle Unlocked, South Oxford Bowls Club and St Hilda’s College, which opened their doors free of charge.

Today Maggie’s Oxford, which offers free advice and services to cancer patients from its striking modern base at the hospital site, celebrates its third birthday.
