CHILTERN Railways has stuck by its decision to not stop its trains at Wembley tomorrow for the England game, despite tube strike action being called off.

The rail provider originally said the cancellations for train passengers travelling to the match between England and Slovenia were down to 'saftey reasons' as a result of the planned tube strike.

Aslef union members were due to walkout at midnight in a dispute over working conditions.

But despite the strike being called off yesterday, Chiltern Railways has today confirmed it will still have no trains stopping at Wembley Stadium station tomorrow after 4pm.

In a statement it said that the deadline for changes its services passed on Monday before the decision was made to cancel the strike.

It means fans travelling from Oxfordshire will have to find a different way for getting to the match.

Chiltern Railways spokeswoman Nicola Clark said: "Chiltern Railways is not able to offer a service to or from Wembley Stadium station after 4pm.

"For large scale Wembley events such as this Chiltern schedules extra services and additional stops are made at the station.

"The final deadline for changes to the service plan was Monday and at this point, on the understanding the underground strike was going ahead, the decision was made not to call at Wembley Stadium station – because neither Chiltern’s services nor the station would be able to safely accommodate the expected significant increase in passengers (due to the expected strike action).

"Unfortunately, this decision cannot be altered in the short timescales available.

"Chiltern Railways apologises for any inconvenience this may cause."
