A FAIR will take place in Thame after a previous event was cancelled for this month.

Thame Town Council and the London and Home Counties Section of the Showmen’s Guild have confirmed the Thame October Fair will go ahead on October 13 and 14.

The announcement comes after the council could not strike a deal with the Showmen's Guild for a fair which had been due to take place from September 21 to 23.

The fair did not go ahead this month after organisers refused to renew their deal with the council

The Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain rejected the council’s offer to enter into a new four-year agreement, which was £1,000 more expensive than the last.

In a statement released yesterday, the council said: "We look forward to a successful and enjoyable event for all concerned.

"The Guild and Thame Town Council have also committed to talk further re the terms for both the September and October Fairs for 2018 onwards and are both convinced that agreement will be reached in the not too distant future."
