OXFORD City Farm is gearing up to hold its first ever festival of food, live music and, of course, petting animals.

The event at the Cornwallis Road, Oxford, farm will feature live music, animal petting, apple pressing and stalls with locally produced food and drink.

Fundraising co-ordinator Sally Mullard said: "We want to bring all our supporters, volunteers and our lovely community together to thank the people who have helped us to bring Oxford City Farm into being.

"We are so thrilled and excited to be in the position to start building the farm. There's lots to celebrate.

"There will be delicious local food, a local bar courtesy of the Jolly Postboys, music, animals to cuddle, pony rides, apple pressing, face-painting and lots more."

The day-long festival will officially open on October 7 at 11.30am with speeches by local dignitaries.

There will then be live music by Rising Voices from midday and the Oxford Ukuleles at 1.30pm. At 2pm there will be an Open Mic session.

Throughout the day there will be pony rides, animals to cuddle, a local BBQ as well as facepainting, and apple pressing.

Participants are asked to bring their own cutlery in order to help reduce waste.

Festival organisers have also put out an appeal to bring cake to help with the fundraising on the day or to register as a volunteer.
