THE city's new John Lewis store will contain an 'express' nail bar so shoppers can pause for beauty treatment.

The firm announced more than 1,000 brands that would be sold in its anchor shop at the new Westgate shopping centre, including Ralph Lauren, Boden and Mulberry.

Earlier this week it was revealed that profits at the John Lewis partnership had more than halved in the past six months.

It added that inflationary pressures, driven by exchange rates and political uncertainty, had hit customer demand in recent months.

John Lewis said the fall in the pound had pushed up its costs, hitting profit margin.

But it's Oxford department store will be kitted out with a range of new features to raise profits once again.

It will be home to the retailer's first ever express Beauty Nail and Brow Bar where customers can book in quick treatment halfway through their shop.

Staff will also be theatrically trained to give shoppers a better experience when they visit.

The company has also advertised for its first-ever 'brand experience manager' at the Oxford store to attract more people through the door.

Branch manager, Julie Blake, said: "At John Lewis we’re so proud of our brands, exclusives and own-label collections which have all been very carefully selected by our buyers, or designed by our in-house designers.

"We’re bringing the latest and best of what we have to offer to Oxford; much of which only be bought at John Lewis.

"My team and I are really looking forward to talking to customers about these products, whether it’s finding that perfect outfit for a special occasion or a brand new sofa for a first home, and we can’t wait to welcome in new collections as time goes on."
