OXFORD United must not allow the frustration of letting two points slip away in the final seconds on Tuesday cloud their approach tomorrow, boss Pep Clotet has warned.

His side would have gone into the game at Blackpool above their hosts on goal difference if they had held on against Bradford City.

Instead, Romain Vincelot’s 94th-minute header earned a 2-2 draw, much to United’s frustration.

While Clotet was happy with almost everything else on the night, he knows it would be dangerous to go chasing a result at Bloomfield Road.

“Absolutely, because those points will never come back, they’re gone,” the United manager said.

“But they are professional players and know these things happen.

“The thing is when you have a style, you play your own way and try to lead the games.

“You have a higher chance that it goes for you.

“The other day was against us, but it doesn’t have any effect on Saturday.

“The important thing is to repeat what we did on Tuesday.

“At MK Dons (a 1-1 draw) we only managed to do our football for a few minutes in the first half, then we managed it for a full game against Gillingham (a 3-0 win) and Bradford.

“I will not understand the players now going there and doing something else.”

Despite the Bantams bodyblow, confidence is high in the camp.

Clotet was quick to highlight there was a balance to be struck to ensure no-one got carried away, but everything comes back to believing in the system.

He said: “I think ambition and self-belief is good if it goes with having your feet on the ground and focusing on playing better.

“I like this point of confidence that they think they can do it.

“I think they feel very confident and they like what they’re doing.

“You can see that in their performances and at the same time they have the mentality of working hard for the team and doing it right.

“It’s a fine margin between succeeding and not succeeding.

“The difference is in the details and the focus.

“The team has it right now.”
