A HEALTH watchdog has praised the compassion and confidence of staff at a care home in Oxford.

During a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection in August, Wytham House was rated ‘good’ overall.

Inspectors found that residents felt safe and their needs were met and were told by residents how well staff treated them.

One resident said: “The girls treat me well. We always have a giggle, I am safe with them.”

Wytham House provides dementia care for up to 40 residents.

Home manager Koren Evans-Slade said: “At Caring Homes we want to ensure that our home is just that – a caring home.

“Here at Wytham House we are all delighted at the praise we have received from the CQC inspectors following our first inspection and that we have achieved a Good overall rating.”

The CQC praised the home and noted that mealtimes were considered social events and were seen to be enjoyed by residents with conversation and chattering throughout.

Activities were also praised for involving families and linking to resident’s interests and hobbies.

Relatives of residents told inspectors: “When I go home I have no qualms about my relative.

“I know everything is fine for her.

“I’ve only got praise for the staff, for all of them.

“The training is obviously good here and the nursing standards are high.”
