ILLEGAL parking will be tackled by police in a £60,000 deal with council bosses in Cherwell.
Cherwell District Council has stumped up the money to give the Thames Valley Police to clamp down on illegal and irresponsible on-street parking.
The money will pay for the equivalent of one full-time Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) to focus on problem areas across the district over the next two years.
Cherwell District Council deputy leader George Reynolds said: “The district council is charged with ensuring the quality of life for people in Cherwell and this will have an immediate impact.
“And this won’t be one PCSO rushing between parking hotspots, this fund will be a boost in resources for neighbourhood police sergeants all over the district to tackle problems in their areas as they see fit.”
The pledge will see PCSO resources boosted by 37 hours a week, divided up according to population size and demand.
