St Giles Fair has rolled into town once again and gets under way this morning with the same rides and amusements but a new prosecco bar.
The annual fair - dating back to the 18th century - was officially open by Lord Mayor Jean Fooks at 11am.
Thousands of fairgoers are expected to take in the atmosphere, stalls and rides, over the next two days.
Oxford City Council has also handed out six 'Golden tickets' for free access to rides through a competition and distributed 20 free ride tickets to council tenants in the city.
Road closures
A number of road closures, which began at midnight last night, will remain in place until 8.30am on Wednesday.
The length of St Giles will of course be closed, as well as Woodstock Road up to its junction with Observatory Street and Banbury Road from where it meets Parks Road to Keble Road.
Little Clarendon Street, Pusey Street and Keble Road will also be shut.
Buses and taxis
Buses and taxis will be transferred from St Giles and Magdalen Street to Broad Street - the pick up location for a number of Oxford Bus Company services using Magdalen Street will be outside Blackwell's Bookshop.
Taxis will be able to park along a short stretch of Beaumont Street, which will be shut from St John Street to St Giles.
New bar!
For the first time ever this year, St Giles Fair will feature a bar. It will include a prosecco bar, a cider stall, and will also be serving food.
It will be open from 11am until 11pm on Monday and Tuesday.
The fair was blessed last night by Reverend Dr Jonathan Jong and The Very Reverend Bob Wilkes as The Salvation Army band played hymns.
