ROADWORKS on the A34 which contributed to late-night gridlock are set to carry on for the next three weeks.

Highways England will be resurfacing the northbound carriageway between Botley and Peartree, Monday-to-Friday, 10pm to 6am.

Drivers diverted off the dual-carriageway on Thursday night were stuck in half-hour queues on Botley Road because of gas works by West Oxford Community Centre.

Gas firm SGN confirmed it was carrying out repairs to a gas main and will return to work on the eastbound carriageway again on Thursday.

The firm said it would again be working through the night 'to minimise disruption'.
