THE first archaeological trenches for Oxford's £120m flood alleviation channel have been dug.
Diggers excavated the first two pits on Oatlands Road Recreation Ground in West Oxford in the past two days.
Investigations will run until November and inform the Environment Agency's planning application for the five-mile flood channel.
