A TAXI driver who slammed on the brakes while driving in front of a lorry in a fit of rage has been convicted.

Maaz Pandor had denied the single charge of dangerous driving after a lorry 'kissed' the back of his black Vauxhall Vectra on the A34 near the Hinksey Hill interchange on June 9 last year.

He claimed he had only applied the brakes in front of the lorry because of a 'leg spasm'.

A jury of eight men and four women, however, found him guilty as his trial at Oxford Crown Court ended yesterday.

Prosecuting, Julian Lynch, had told jurors that the 33-year old of Lock Crescent, Kidlington, had lost his temper in an act of road rage.

After being blocked from exiting the northbound carriageway by the 26-tonne lorry driven by Andrew Moore, the court heard that Pandor then lost his temper and beeped his horn before cutting in front of him.

He then applied his brakes 'extremely hard' before speeding up again and 'applying emergency braking'.

The sentencing will take place at the same court on September 28 while reports are prepared.

He was released on police bail.
