A ROAD between Cumnor and Henwood is closed to traffic as firefighters set a 'hazard zone' following a shed blaze.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in a shed in Cumnor Road at 4pm and, upon arriving at the scene, discovered the shed contained acetylene gas canisters.
Due to the unstable nature of the gas, which is used in welding, crews evacuated 21 people from five homes.
Accomodation needs for those evacuated are currently being established.
Incident commander, station manager Darran Hookway said he hoped the evacuated residents could return home later tonight.
He added, speaking at 7.45pm, that crews would likely remain on site for about four or five hours.
Oxford Bus Company has diverted some services in the area.
