FROM a gold medal in the heptathlon to a really cracking toad in the hole, a good result is in the eye of the beholder.

Inspired by exam results season, we asked Oxford Mail Camera Club members this week to send us picture on the theme 'result!' – we didn't get one picture of a brown envelope being opened, but we got so much else besides.

Bob Girling captured a 'result' in two senses with this picture of a woman beaming with delight at having just purchased a print of one of his beautiful photographs: a result for both people involved!

Ann Faulkner also caught a moment of delight on her own face and in a hot air balloon, what's more.

She captioned her photo: "After two years of cancellations I finally got on a flight over Henley. #selfie #RESULT."

Ian Marriott supplied a genuine podium place picture with his shot of Oxford's own young heptathlete Zoe Pollock getting a silver medal in the England Athletics under-17 Combined Events Championships in Manchester this month.

What Mr Marriott did not reveal is that he is not only Zoe's photographer, he is also one of her coaches at Oxford City Athletic Club, so a result for him in several ways.

Well done Zoe and Ian!

In fact, we were so impressed by Mr Marriott's photographic talents this week we have included another of his shots.

The second picture is a very clever little bit of photo magic, showing a sort-of time lapse of a long jumper training at Horspath Athletics and Sports Ground.

Ian White, meanwhile, sent in a shot which could not have been more different, of a dolphin splashing around in the deep blue sea.

He wrote: "Not your normal shot of a dolphin, but one I think that conveys the excitement of watching these beautiful creatures."

See tomorrow's Oxford Mail to see the £25 'result' of our picture editor's judgement on this week's entries.

Next week, being the last week of August, we thought we would give you one more chance to share your summery snaps, so the theme is 'last days of summer'.

So, one last chance to take a swimming pool selfie or get some nice pics at the park before the leaves turn.

Happy snapping.
