THE funeral of New Theatre ‘box office legend’ Peggy Barson will take place this morning.
Mrs Barson worked at the George Street venue for more than 70 years and was awarded an MBE for her services in 2001.
The great-great grandmother died last month aged 96 having retired in 2011.
Her first shift in the ticket office was in 1940 and she went on to see thousands of performers come and go over the next seven decades.
The service will take place at Oxford Crematorium at 11am.
