EVER wondered what life is like from a chicken's perspective?
A virtual reality experience will be coming to Oxford next week to give the public an immersive look at the lifecycle of factory farmed animals from birth to death.
Charity Animal Equality has become the first animal protection group in the world to use this technology to transport people inside intensive chicken factory farms and slaughterhouses.
'iAnimal' is narrated by star of BBC's Sherlock Amanda Abbington and features footage filmed by 13 investigators in six countries, including a chicken farm in Devon.
She said: “This is so horrible, it’s just awful.
"How can you treat any living thing with such a lack of respect and disregard?
"People need to be aware, and they’re not.
“You should watch this before you eat meat, because I don’t think you would eat it.”
UK executive director of Animal Equality Dr Toni Shephard said that virtual reality opens up worlds that would be hidden from consumers.
The film will be shown on Tuesday, May 2 to Thursday, May 4 outside Lush on Cornmarket St from 11am to 4pm.
The event is being organised in conjunction with Oxford University Vegetarian & Vegan Society.
