SCORES of children descended on an Oxfordshire pub to hunt for Easter eggs.

Families from across the county visited The Chequers, in Brize Norton, yesterday afternoon, for a wide range of seasonal activities including an egg hunt and some egg decorating.

About 250 people flooded the pub from midday, where two special guests were on hand to guide youngsters through a day of entertainment

Landlady at the pub Jane Huggins, who runs the establishment with her daughter Cheri Wales, said: “We always have this kind of thing going on, whether it’s Christmas or New Year or Easter.

“We base everything we do around the children– so it’s children first and parents second.

“We had loads of kids come down on the day and everybody absolutely loved it.”

Children were welcomed to the pub to take part in a special egg hunt in its expansive garden, hosted by much-loved children’s character Peppa Pig. Mickey Mouse was also on hand to keep the youngsters entertained.

Throughout the day, there was also cake and egg decorating and colouring competitions.

Mrs Huggins said the event was in the usual spirit of the pub, adding: “It’s something we do every year. We’re a family pub and a lot of what was going on over this weekend is just what happens all year round.

“Kids love being around other kids so we’ve all had a lot of fun today.”
