Smoke alarms saved residents of a home in Blackbird Leys from danger after a fire broke out in their house.
Shortly before 8am yesterday a blaze started in a ground floor bedroom of the building in Sawpit Road.
Firefighters were despatched to the scene from stations in Slade Park and Rewley Road and arrived to find the occupants of the house had got out safely.
Fire crews then entered the property wearing breathing apparatus and extinguished the flames, stopping it spreading to other parts of the house.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an unattended iron.
Incident commander crew manager Henry Bosley said: "Yet again this is a perfect example of how important working smoke alarms are, the early warning enabled occupants to act very quickly in evacuating the building safely, and followed our advice of: ‘If in doubt get out, stay out and get the Fire and Rescue Service out.'"
