THE organisers of music festivals across the county are being invited to enter this year’s Oxfordshire Business Awards.

The deadline for entries the prestigious awards is midnight on Friday and companies are being urged to send in their entries for the 12 different award categories.

Chairman of the awards Paul Lowe said more entries in the cultural events and tourism award category and urged music festivals to enter.

He said: “We have a number of entries for the cultural events and tourism award but we would like to have more and I want to remind music festivals they could enter.

“This category is about cultural events as well as tourism and Oxfordshire have some very well established music festival like Truck and Towersey.

“As long as the festival is in Oxfordshire it would be eligible.”

Mr Lowe said entries were still coming in at a ‘reasonable’ rate with a number of high-profile entries for the new Brita Green Award.

Finalists will be among 500 business leaders and staff attending a gala evening on June 16, at the King’s Centre in Osney Mead, Oxford.

It is the first time the business awards have been held at the King’s Centre.

Last year’s gala evening was at the De Vere Oxford Thames hotel in Sandford-on-Thames.

The finalists from the 12 categories will be automatically considered for the overall Business of the Year award, sponsored by electrical contractors Darke & Taylor.

The categories span innovation, charity and community, small business, young person of the year, business person of the year, new business, apprenticeship, large business, marketing excellence, cultural events and tourism, employer of the year, and the Brita Green award.
