CELEBRITY fans have backed an Oxford magazine’s bid to become owned by its readers.
Actress Emma Thompson, musician Jarvis Cocker and novelist A.L. Kennedy have all supported the fundraising drive by Cowley Road-based New Internationalist.
The magazine, which aims to highlight social injustice around the world, officially launched the campaign on March 6 with an event at Modern Art Oxford, and more than 800 investors have now bought shares.
The magazine, which published its 500th edition this month, now has more than £195,000 pledged out of its £500,000 fundraising target.
