THE actor Idris Elba will be showing off his DJ skills when he sets up his decks at an Oxfordshire music festival this summer.

The star of gritty TV shows The Wire and Luther, is among a tranche of new signings for Truck Festival in Steventon, near Didcot.

The Hackney-born Golden Globe-winning actor is well known for his parts in movies American Gangster, Thor, Prometheus, Pacific Rim, Beasts of No Nation and Star Trek Beyond. He also voiced characters in kids favourites Zootopia, The Jungle Book, and Finding Dory.

He starred as Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (pictured).

However, he is also a hip-hop and soul artist, and DJs under the names DJ Big Driis and Big Driis the Londoner. His sets span styles and generations.

Truck Festival takes place from July 21-23, and is headlined by The Libertines, The Vaccines and Franz Ferdinand.

Other acts announced today for what will be the event's 20th anniversary, include Deaf Havana, Hinds, The Moonlandingz, Pulled Apart by Horses, Jamie Lenman, The Big Moon, Honey Blood, Zak Abel, Pumarosa, Arcane Roots, Dream Wife and The Dreaming Spires – the band set up by Truck Festival founders Robin and Joe Bennett.

They will be joined by VUKOVI, Bad Sounds, The Rhythm Method, WSTR, Ardyn, Girl Ray, Kagoule, Catherine McGraph, RedFaces, Shells, The Night Café, Palm Honey, Indigo Husk, Weirds, Kamikaze Girls, Alpha Male Tea Party and The Oxford Symphony Orchestra.

Representing the local dance music scene, Switch Oxford will return for the third year running, hosting sets by the likes of bass outfit T Q D, drum and bass act SaSaSaS, grime crew Elijah & Skilliam, Swindle, and Champion & MC Serious.

Truck Festival's Matt Harrap said: "Revellers can expect an eclectic mix of live music and DJ performances from the best global talent as well as a medley of locally sourced food markets and ale stalls, silent discos, the Nighthawk Cinema and a family area hosting themed games, races and sandpits. 2017 will also welcome the return of the nation's number one fitness guru and old favourite, Mr Motivator who’ll be spreading feel good fun with his legendary routines. It’s not to be missed."
